A former employee is facing theft charges for stealing more than $73,000 over a two year span from Hines Ward’s Tavern 86.
Kimberly Cook was taken into custody last week and has been chargers with theft by unlawful taking.
According to investigators, thefts began in August of 2015. Police say Cook admitted to taking customers’ cash payments and ringing up the sales to make it look like it was paid for by a gift card.
She found a back to fraudulently create a gift card, so when the customers would pay cash, she would keep the cash.
This could have been stopped however, she already had a criminal background and was arrested on charges involving theft on a few different occasions in Allegheny County.
